Crispy ice leads up to a sunrise-lit Castle Mountain

Edge of Ice – 2026

This is an area I’ve photographed a few times now, and I just don’t get tired of it. The area creates some lovely natural lines toward the mountain with what I think is a better perspective than some of the more traditional spots to see this dramatic peak. Each time I’ve photographed from here I’ve come back with something interesting, and this year was no different in that respect.

This year, however, there was very little ice and snow, so Scott and I definitely had to get a bit creative to make things work. This was certainly not a whole lot of ice to work with, but it was just enough for this image! Neat!
