Beautiful cotton candy skies over a mountain reflected in water and ice

Crispy Dawn – 2026

This is one incredibly triangular mountain, and it’s one of my favourites in the Rockies. It’s always a gamble heading here as it’s a long ride from where Scott and I were staying, and getting there before sunrise is always a chore. With that said, it’s been worth the ride every time. This year, there was some very pretty crispy ice along the river that created some great foreground opportunities, and the weather definitely cooperated!  It’s hard to express how exciting it is to be greeted by cotton candy skies after a long ride before dawn. What a treat to have a scene like this come together!
